[Hong Kong, August 13, 2026] —— The Family Office Fintech Association (FOFA) and top-tier law firm AllBright Law Offices co-hosted an online closed-door seminar titled "Practical Structuring and Wealth Management Strategies for Chinese Enterprises' Global Expansion and Cross-Border M&A." This event gathered leading cross-border lawyers, barristers, and senior trust experts to provide Chinese enterprises and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) with a comprehensive "Legal Structuring + Trust Custody + Tax Planning" solution, precisely addressing challenges related to capital security, tax compliance, and asset inheritance during their overseas expansion.

With the acceleration of global footprints, the demand for "going global" among Chinese enterprises and HNWIs is growing rapidly. However, facing strict overseas Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) screenings, antitrust investigations, and tax transparency challenges brought by the Common Reporting Standard (CRS), traditional single Overseas Direct Investment (ODI) routes can no longer meet the demands of the current complex international business environment. Entrepreneurs face not only high tax burdens but also deep concerns regarding the security of exported capital and future asset inheritance.

Addressing these industry pain points, the seminar was co-presented by the FOFA expert team alongside AllBright's Hong Kong and Mainland teams, providing an in-depth analysis of three core modules:

  1. Current Status of ODI and Structure Design: Discussing the latest trends in overseas investment approvals, breaking through the limitations of traditional structures, and legally and compliantly establishing flexible overseas holding platforms.

  2. Application of Hong Kong Trusts in M&A and Asset Management: Introducing licensed Hong Kong trusts (TCSP) as secure, neutral capital custodians. Exploring how assets can smoothly transition into family trusts post-M&A to achieve physical isolation between corporate assets and personal risks.

  3. CRS Response and Tax Planning: Addressing tax transparency issues for entrepreneurs retaining Chinese citizenship while holding overseas assets. The session included practical demonstrations on utilizing a dual-layer "Hong Kong Company + Hong Kong Trust" structure to legally defer taxes and achieve a smooth intergenerational wealth transfer.

Dr. Colin Lee, Chairman of FOFA, stated:

This strong alliance with AllBright Law Offices aims to leverage cross-sector collaboration, transforming the institutional advantages of Hong Kong trusts into a solid backing for corporate cross-border M&A and wealth inheritance, truly helping clients achieve risk isolation and long-lasting business success."
